While all the headlines were about Tevez joining and the three other big signings United have made this pre-season it was two of the old boys who were to thank for winning the Match. Giggs scored a great goal while his contribution throughout the game cannot be ignored either while Van Der Sar saved all three penalties in the shoot-out.
United didn't quite spark in their first pre-season match, coming back from a goal down after a Van Der Sar blunder they scored twice through Fletcher and Ronaldo but Urawa came back and equalised late in the second half. United's next fixture is on Friday 20th against FC Seoul, 12 O clock BST.
Despite Tevez scoring the only goal of the match to keep West Ham up it did not prevent Manchester United celebrating Premiership success again as they ended the season 6 points clear of Chelsea.
A team of reserves, youth with a blend of a couple of first team squad players in Heinze, Brown, Fletcher and Smith held out for a draw in a highly charged yet completely meaningless contest. Chelsea had the better chances overall but it was United who should have had a penalty.
