Saha opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a Saha penalty, Ronaldo added a second with a scorching free kick before the 10 minute mark. Vidic then slotted home a third from a free header in the second half.
Rooney scored two goals inside the first 17 minutes to more or less settle the game within the first half. Ronaldo then added a third after Saha squared for him in the latter stages of the second half. Rooney completed his hat-trick in the 88th minute blasting it past the Bolton keeper from just inside the area.
Paul Scholes on his 500th appearence for United scored the goal that changed the game and led United to victory. Making a trademark run he smashed the ball in from close range. From then on United dominated possession and Liverpool had little chance to make a difference. Rio then scored his 2nd goal of his United career and coincidently his second goal in as many seasons in the same fixture to seal the win,
Wayne Rooney led Manchester United's march to within a point of the Champions League knock-out phase even if there is still no end to his goalscoring drought.
