Berba off the mark in three-nil victory

Despite dominating from start to finish, some poor finishing prevented United from making it more than the 3-0 it was on the night. Rooney opened the scoring mid-way through the first half following a golden opportunity wasted by Berbatov to open his account after Ronaldo had hustled the Aalborg keeper into a mistake. It was another mistake that finally led to Berbatov opening his account but he wasn't finished adding a spectacular second 11 minutes from time.

Ron and Roon secure controversial win

A penalty that never was gave Man Utd the much needed goal to go on and claim 3 points. A perfectly adjudged tackle by Samuel was deemed a foul by referee Rob Styles, much to the surprise of everyone including Ronaldo who contary to reports did not dive. Then the win was wrapped up minutes later, Rooney coming on as a substitute recieved a delightful back heeled pass from Ronaldo and a drop of the shoulder opened up the space to place the ball beyond the despairing dive of Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Bridge to nowhere

After a brilliant start made better by a 1-0 lead United all but gave in to Chelsea's demands and sat back waiting for wave after wave of attack. In the end Kalou snatched a point for Chelsea from Mikel's free kick in the 79th minute. A point which doesn't really help United in circumstances as they wallow in 14th, 7 points behind leaders Arsenal albeit with a game in hand.
